Dr. Kirti Mehta is an experienced radiologist with more than two decades of expertise in breast imaging and women’s health. She serves as Clinical Lead in Breast Imaging at Imaging Associates and Eastern Health, where she is dedicated to delivering comprehensive, compassionate, and patient-centred care.
After completing her MBBS and MD Radiology from India in 1998, Dr. Mehta pursued advanced specialist training in Diagnostic Ultrasound, Breast Imaging, and Foetal Medicine. She worked as a lecturer and consultant radiologist in India before relocating to Australia in 2004, where she completed registrar training and a Breast Imaging Fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne.
She strongly believes that good communication with patients and their treating doctors is absolutely fundamental in optimal patient management and positive treatment outcomes.
A respected leader in her field, Dr. Mehta has held several senior positions, including Director of Training at Breast Screen Victoria and Lead Breast Radiologist at St Vincent’s Melbourne. Her expertise spans multimodality breast imaging, including 2D and 3D mammography, contrast-enhanced mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and imaging-guided breast interventions.
Dr. Mehta is an integral member of multidisciplinary breast care teams and is a strong advocate for collaborative patient management. She believes that effective communication between patients and healthcare professionals is fundamental to achieving the best possible treatment outcomes.
A passionate educator and mentor, Dr. Mehta has dedicated much of her career to training the next generation of breast radiologists. She believes that sharing knowledge and fostering excellence in others is one of the most powerful ways to advance in healthcare. She is a regular presenter at national scientific meetings and professional forums, contributing to the advancement of breast imaging practice across Australia and New Zealand.
