Specialties: Interventional Radiology, Interventional Oncology, Abdominal Radiology

Ken (Wei Che) completed a Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery (MBBS) and a Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSci) at The University of Melbourne in 2012. He worked as a junior doctor for two years with Western Health and then undertook his Radiology training in Hobart, commencing in 2015 and graduating in 2020. Ken then completed a subspecialty Fellowship in Interventional Radiology with Imaging Associates at Box Hill Hospital, Eastern Health in 2020 and obtained the European Board of Interventional Radiology qualification in 2023.

After his fellowship at Box Hill Hospital, Ken returned to Hobart and worked there as a Consultant Interventional Radiologist for two years. Upon returning to Victoria in 2023, he joined Imaging Associates where he currently provides diagnostic and interventional radiology services, including after-hours teleradiology and on call interventional radiology for multiple hospitals in Melbourne.

In addition to his work with Imaging Associates, Ken also volunteers for Radiology Across Borders with their TIDES project which provides teleradiology services for developing countries in the South Pacific. He is also one of the supervisors for the Interventional Radiology fellowship program currently offered by Imaging Associates at Box Hill Hospital.

I enjoy the mental challenge of interpreting imaging and constructing meaningful advice and findings for clinicians.

Ken was first attracted to Radiology because it is relied upon by all medical specialties as a critical part of providing patient care. From diagnosis to treatment of medical conditions, he enjoys the mental challenge of interpreting images and constructing meaningful advice and findings for clinicians. As an interventional radiologist, he also enjoys the technical challenges of performing image-guided procedures.

Adaptable, affable, and patient, Ken is especially passionate about advancing the field of Interventional Radiology and advocating for it to be recognised as a subspecialty in Australia and New Zealand. To this end, he is an active member of RANZCR’s Interventional Radiology and Interventional Neuroradiology Reference Group. In his spare time, Ken enjoys exploring new parts of Victoria with his wife and Golden Retriever.
