We are proud industry leaders in 3D mammography, offering the highest level of breast radiology care with an unrivalled use of state-of-the-art technology, supported by our team of fully qualified, dedicated mammographers. This ensures the highest quality care across our clinics to help in the fight against breast cancer.
We have a team of specialised breast radiologists across our mammography clinics. This means that if you have a mammogram at our Mitcham, Box Hill or Wagga Wagga clinics, there will be a breast radiologist (specialist) to review your mammogram straight after you have it, prepare the report, and be available for your referring doctor to talk to if required.
Our ongoing leadership in 3D mammography includes using the latest state-of-the-art technology:
There is no preparation required for this examination. It’s recommended you wear a two-piece outfit and you will be advised not to wear talcum powder. Deodorant and perfume are fine. Please advise us of any medication you are taking prior to your scan.
This scan will take approximately 30 minutes and you may be asked to wait while the radiologist reviews the scan. In many cases, you will undergo an ultrasound scan at the same appointment. There may be a short wait between your mammogram and ultrasound scan while the sonographer and radiologist review the mammogram.
You may require an injection of contrast for this examination and the mammographer will discuss this with you if needed.
Very low x-ray energy is used during the mammography examination, so your radiation exposure is safely below industry guidelines. Special software creates a synthetic 2D image reconstruction from the 3D tomosynthesis scan and eliminates the need for additional x-rays. This reduces both compression time and overall radiation dose.
The report from our radiologist will be forwarded to your doctor as soon as possible. If there are any urgent findings, the radiologist will notify your referring doctor immediately.
Please advise us if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding.
Please advise us of any medications you are taking. They may affect the timing of your appointment.
Please advise us of any allergies.
