Pratheesh Gurunathan - MRI Supervisor at Imaging Associates.

Radiographer – MRI Supervisor

Specialties: All areas of MRI

Pratheesh is outgoing, friendly and endlessly patient. He loves what he does so much so, that he can’t say no to a scan; when asked to fit in a patient, Pratheesh always does.  He is empathetic and easily builds rapport with patients, referrers and with his colleagues he is a great team member.

High quality radiography is the result of a fine balance between patient interaction, the physics of the equipment and the understanding of human anatomy. Pratheesh is passionate about maintaining excellence in the provision of radiology services and the development of new protocols that assist in patient diagnosis and treatment.

Pratheesh joined Imaging Associates in 2019. In his current role as MRI supervisor, he is responsible for the day to day operations of the MRI department as well as overseeing protocols and seeing patients. He works closely with Radiologists and trains junior staff to help optimise scans to aid in patient diagnosis.

Pratheesh studied at the University of Sydney, graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Sciences, Medical Radiation Sciences and Diagnostic Radiography in 2008.  He worked as a radiographer at a number of clinics in Sydney until 2015, when he relocated to London where he worked as a Locum Senior MRI radiographer. In this role, Pratheesh was responsible for managing and improving MRI departments and training junior staff at several major hospitals until 2019, when he returned to Australia and settled in Melbourne. He was employed as an MRI radiographer and then quickly advanced to the role of MRI Supervisor.  His extensive professional experience also encompasses establishing a new Imaging clinic from scratch and implementing the procedures and protocols for CT and MRI for that practice.

Pratheesh has always been driven by his curiosity about the physics and workings of MRI equipment, the broad capability it offers and the level of detail that can be delivered without the use of radiation.  For Pratheesh, radiography is a great balance between patient interaction, the physics of the equipment and the understanding of human anatomy.
