Empowering Radiology Careers at Imaging Associates

A Local Success Story, Cleo Randal

Staffing a large regional medical practice presents unique challenges, not least of which is finding skilled professionals who are willing and able to serve their communities. At Imaging Associates, we place a high priority on supporting local educational institutions, knowing that creating career pathways for rural students can be a powerful way to strengthen both the healthcare system and the community. By offering these students the opportunity to train and work close to home, they can pursue fulfilling careers without leaving behind their family, friends, and the place they grew up.

One such success story is Cleo Randal, a 23-year-old from Wagga Wagga who is now beginning her career with Imaging Associates after completing a Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science – Diagnostic Radiography at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga. Cleo’s journey reflects how partnerships with educational institutions can open doors, not only for students like her but also for Imaging Associates, as it brings fresh, motivated talent into the team.

Cleo’s path was not without its challenges. Throughout her four-year degree, she applied for numerous work placements, facing stiff competition and, at times, missing out due to her rural location. So, when Imaging Associates reached out to her about an interview for her final placement, Cleo was thrilled.

“My final placement was for 33 weeks, so getting an opportunity to do that at my first-preference location was incredibly exciting. Sitting in front of an interview panel was daunting at first, but I felt at ease quickly and knew it was a team I wanted to be part of.”

Her placement at Imaging Associates offered hands-on experience across every modality, an invaluable opportunity to learn on state-of-the-art equipment within a supportive, knowledgeable team. “There’s nothing you can’t learn here in Wagga. Imaging Associates has top-quality equipment alongside top-quality people who are committed to ensuring students grow and learn as much as possible,” Cleo explains. “The team environment gave me complete confidence in my skills and knowledge.”

Cleo’s hard work and dedication paid off when she was offered a permanent position—a testament to her commitment and the value Imaging Associates places on nurturing homegrown talent.

“I’m 23 and have grown up in Wagga, after 33 weeks learning the processes and working alongside a team so focused on patient care and supporting one another, I knew this was where I wanted to be. The thought of relocating to start my career in an unfamiliar town was intimidating, so receiving this offer was a tremendous privilege.”
