Specialties: Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Vascular Imaging and MRI

An interventional doctor and radiologist with a special interest in MRI and intervention, Dr Cheung is committed to researching and exploring new methods or technologies that improve diagnosis and treatment.

Dr York Cheung graduated from the University of Melbourne and worked at Austin Health before undertaking Radiology training and an MRI Fellowship at Monash Health. York then moved to London to complete Interventional Radiology Fellowships with the Imperial College and Royal London hospital networks.

Always generous in sharing his knowledge and expertise with staff, students, and clinicians, his manner is gentle and always humble.

Returning to Australia, York worked as a diagnostic and interventional radiologist with Alfred Health before joining Imaging Associates. Opting for a tree change, York relocated from Melbourne to Wagga Wagga and established new standards for medical imaging across Wagga Wagga and the surrounding communities.

He is particularly proud that Imaging Associates introduced state-of-the-art technology to the Riverina, including 3D Mammography, breast MRI, low radiation dose CT, and 4D parathyroid CT.

After Imaging Associates commenced medical imaging reporting services for the Murrumbidgee Local Health District, York took up the role of Clinical Director of Medical Imaging at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital where he oversaw service provision with a strong focus on access, efficiency and improved patient care. Under his leadership, the Wagga Wagga practice grew and earned a well-deserved reputation as a team of highly skilled and dedicated clinicians.

Although York’s motivation for becoming a doctor was to help patients, his motivation for becoming a radiologist was to help doctors. Always generous in sharing his knowledge and expertise with staff, students, and clinicians, his manner is gentle and always humble.

York views radiology as first and foremost being about people, but he is also committed to continually researching and exploring new methods or technologies that improve diagnosis and treatment.
