Dr Spanger has extensive experience and a deep understanding of the range and application of the techniques and procedures that modern radiology offers. He also brings a thoughtful outlook and a calm demeanor to his work.

Manfred began working as a radiologist in 1998. His decision to pursue a career in radiology was prompted by the opportunity it provided for him to take a broad view of the entire spectrum of medicine. He joined Imaging Associates in 2008, after an impressive career encompassing senior roles as a Director of Radiology and Intervention in a number of clinics. He studied medicine in South Africa, where he completed his Bachelor of Medicine/ Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCh) in 1992. He is a Fellow of the College of Diagnostic Radiologists in South Africa and has been a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists since 2000.

Manfred considers it a privilege that as a radiologist, he gets the opportunity to positively influence the care and recovery of his patients and this is what is most rewarding for him.

Manfred’s role with Imaging Associates includes responsibility for oversight of the interventional call roster and interventional and general radiology services at multiple sites. Concurrently, he is also the Director of Interventional Services at another private facility. Manfred has published numerous articles and remains active in exploring and implementing new procedures and techniques in his practice. Even after several years working as an Interventional and General Radiologist, Manfred still thrives on the challenge of complex cases and considers it a privilege that as a Radiologist, he gets the opportunity to positively influence the care and recovery of his patients.
