Executive Director, Clinical Director Mitcham and Tecoma, Radiologist

Specialties: Breast Radiology and General MRI

Dr Daniel Lee is one of Australia’s most respected radiologists in the field of breast imaging, intervention and MRI, and a recognised leader with extensive research and teaching experience. He is the Clinical Director at Imaging Associates Mitcham.

Daniel graduated from Monash University in 2003 and completed his radiology training at Northern Health. He continued his training with an MRI fellowship at Northern Health and then, in 2012, a breast imaging fellowship at North Western BreastScreen and the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Daniel commenced with Imaging Associates in 2012.

Daniel is a strong believer in compassionate patient care and describes himself as being ‘a doctor’s doctor’.

He has presented at the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) Annual Scientific Meeting on tomosynthesis guided breast biopsy, Australasian Society for Breast Disease (ASBD) on breast ultrasound, RANZCR Breast Imaging Group Meeting on tomosynthesis reading, lateral arm attachment and breast density and risk assessment and General Practice Conference & Exhibition (GPCE) on breast cancer detection in moderate-to-high risk women.

Daniel also has a strong interest in mammographic breast density, with Imaging Associates being one of the first radiology practices in Australia to offer objective mammographic breast density measurements using VolparaTM technology. Using this information, Imaging Associates is one of the very few radiology practices in Australia to offer patients a formal breast cancer risk assessment using the Tyrer-Cuzick model (IBIS tool), and subsequent personalised breast imaging screening recommendations.

Daniel is a strong believer in compassionate patient care and describes himself as being ‘a doctor’s doctor’. For him, the role of a radiologist is much more than just providing imaging reports.  Radiologists have specialised clinical knowledge and experience in various medical subspecialties and while technology is a vital tool in accurate diagnosis, a radiologist’s ability to effectively communicate with patients and treating doctors is a critical component in good patient management and improving outcomes.
